Build a Business, Not Just Buy a Job
At Inspected Residential, we’re growing a national network of independently owned building-inspection businesses – and we’re looking for driven owners to join us. If you’re serious about building something substantial – not just becoming another “man in a van” inspector – our licensing model gives you the control, flexibility and upside to create the business you actually want.

Our Reports Are Accepted By All Major Banks And Insurance Companies
A Premier Provider Of Residential Building Inspections In NZ
We’re more than just inspectors – we’re trusted advisors. Our mission is to set the standard for accuracy, clarity and professionalism in building inspections nationwide. We’ve built a reputation as Canterbury’s trusted local brand By joining us, you help bridge the gap in inspection quality, provide clarity to property buyers and sellers, and play a key role in growing a national brand.

A better fit for owners who want real control and growth
Most franchises in the building inspection industry are designed for owner-operators who effectively “own their own job” – you follow a strict rulebook, pay the fees, and have limited say in how things evolve. Inspected Residential is different.
Our licensing model has been built from the ground up for people who want to:
Build a team, not just a one-person job
Grow from solo inspector to a multi-inspector operation in your region.
Shape how your business runs day to day
You have genuine input into how you deliver services, hire staff, and refine your local systems – while still aligning with our proven standards and processes.
Create a valuable asset
You’re not just “using a brand”; you’re building a business with real equity in a defined territory, backed by a national reputation.
Leverage a brand, not be controlled by one
You get our training, templates, tech stack and marketing engine – but you’re not micro-managed like in a typical franchise environment.
Who this opportunity is for
An Inspected Residential licence could be ideal if you are:

A builder or tradesperson who wants off the tools
You understand how houses go together and want to move into a role that is less physical, more strategic and better leveraged.

An experienced building inspector who’s ready for more
Maybe you’re already inspecting but feel capped by your current employer or franchise. You want more control, more say, and more upside.

A business-minded operator with a passion for property
You enjoy systems, people, numbers and growth – and you want to plug into a proven brand rather than starting from zero.
Systems, tools and processes built by inspectors, for inspectors
You’ll plug into a proven operational engine, including:
Online booking and scheduling built to minimise admin and maximise booked jobs
Inspection templates and checklists tuned thousands of real-world inspections
Reporting workflows that make same-day delivery achievable and sustainable
Support on pricing, service mix and positioning in your local market

Strategic guidance from someone actively doing it
Inspected Residential isn’t run by a distant corporate office – it’s led by a working building inspector and business owner who is actively growing the brand across New Zealand.
As a licensee, you benefit from:
Practical, real-world advice – not theory
Support in marketing focus
A sounding board for hiring, scaling and introducing new services

What you could expect to earn
We’ve designed this licensing model for people who want to build a serious, six-figure business – not just scrape by.
While every region and owner is different, a driven licensee who follows our systems, builds strong relationships, and steadily grows their bookings can realistically aim to earn well in excess of $100,000 per year just as a solo operator.
Your income potential will depend on factors such as:
Whether you grow a team or stay as a solo operator
How many inspections you complete each week (and which service mix you focus on)
How quickly you build referral relationships with agents, mortgage brokers and lawyers
How effectively you manage your time, pricing and systems

Traditional franchise
(not what we do):
Heavily prescriptive, “colour inside the lines” model
Typically built for owner-operators in our industry
Limited ability to adapt or innovate locally
Often feels like you’ve bought yourself a job
Inspected Residential licensing (what we do):
Designed for ambitious owners who want to build something bigger
Greater input into how your local operation is run and grown
Ability to build a team under your brand and territory
Lower price barrier than a franchise buy-in, with more flexibility to shape your business
Your growth path

Step 1 – Start as the lead inspector in your territory
You’ll begin by running inspections yourself, learning our systems in depth and building relationships with local agents, lawyers, mortgage brokers and repeat clients.

Step 2 – Refine your local engine
With our support, you’ll:
- Fine-tune your pricing
- Decide which services to focus on first
- Build repeat and referral business in your region

Step 3 – Scale beyond yourself
Once the foundations are solid, you can:
- Bring on and train additional inspectors
- Add additional admin or operations support if needed
- Increase capacity without burning yourself out
